Summary Purpose of Position:
Prepares, cooks, and serves food for school lunch program. Cleans and washes all equipment and utensils used in cooking.
Keeps own work area clean.
Terms of Employment: Hourly employee.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties
- Prepares and cooks food for school lunch program according to production sheets and recipes, using proper food handling techniques.
- Operates kitchen equipment as necessary to include: ovens, steamers, kettles, grill, dish washer, mechanical choppers, graders, slicers, and mixer.
- Sets up serving line at lunch time; serves lunch and keeps all foods on serving line throughout lunch period.
Food Service Work Job Description
- Insures that good sanitation techniques are employed at all times in preparation, service, food temperature control, and proper storage of raw and prepared food.
Secondary Duties
- Cleans and maintains small equipment, washes pots and pans as needed and performs general cleaning as appropriate.
- Insures cost control through conscientious portion control, recipe compliance, accurate weighing and measuring, and proper channeling of leftover foods.
- Maintains daily production records as necessary, noting over or under production and/or any recipe modification.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
Auditory and Visual Requirements: Must be within normal range
Licenses and Certification: Relevant clearances required by law
Problem Solving Skills: Must exhibit high levels of problem solving skills for overall efficiency and productivity.
Mental Demands:
- Must have a steady response to unpredictable situations.
- Must demonstrate independent judgment and discretion in making decisions.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Must effectively communicate students and all staff members.
